The Rationale for this Position

Since its founding in 2020, Cyclyx has been a post-use plastic feedstock management company working with industry participants to develop innovative recycling solutions for all types of post-use plastics. The company's mission is to increase the recyclability of plastics from 10% to 90% by using Cyclyx's expertise in understanding the chemical composition of waste plastic in collaboration with industry partners to create a new, innovative supply chain.

Role Overview :

The Sourcing Agent is responsible for ensuring that Cyclyx customers have a steady and predictable supply of feedstock per specification and the associated supplier network. The Agent will engage with potential feedstock sources identified by a Target List, assessing their waste streams for compatibility with Cyclyx customer requirements. Cyclyx will identify the need for polymer types, and the Agent will be responsible for locating and qualifying suppliers of qualified feedstock. This role requires a hands-on, knowledgeable, highly responsive team player who is a resourceful self-starter who brings creativity and strong interpersonal skills to the organization.

  • Works closely with internal teams to understand sourcing needs and priorities.
  • Engages with potential suppliers to build relationships and assess suitability.
  • Provides exceptional service to internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor, facilitating effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Sets and achieves KPIs related to sourcing activities.
  • Monitors progress and takes proactive measures to meet or exceed targets.
  • Provides feedback to enhance the effectiveness of the supplier target list.
  • Offers insights on market trends and industry developments to inform decision-making.
  • Assists in onboarding new sourcing agents and sharing expertise and best practices.

Qualifications

Experience / Knowledge

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a sourcing agent, sales representative, or in customer service in the field preferred
  • Previous experience in the plastics industry is highly preferred
  • Understanding of basic sourcing fundamentals
  • Familiarity with navigating and utilizing various technical tools and equipment, such as customer relationship management (CRM) systems, Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint, and other relevant tools, highly preferred
  • Strong and effective negotiating skills that substantively contribute to building customer relationships by maximizing customer engagement with the Cyclyx mission
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Experience communicating and collaborating efficiently and effectively with a co-located team
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally at all levels in the organization
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

    • Education / Training

  • Completion of a 2-year college degree is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered

    Reports to : Feedstock Sourcing Manager

    Type : Salary -

    Work Hours : Flexible, but generally 8 : 00-5 : 00.

    Staff : None

    Location : Houston, TX

    Work environment : Remote with Supplier Site Visits, Regular Plant / Warehouse Visits

    Travel : 10-30%, largely local with intermittent conference and out-of-state travel upon request

    Physical demands : substantially those of an office environment, including occasional lifting and manual work.
