Description

The Childcare Youth Development Specialist is responsible for administrative compliance, programming, facility, and child safety. This position provides hands-on programming while creating a safe and engaging environment for our members. At the school sites, youth receive targeted services in a safe, supportive environment from staff who believe in the organization's mission. The Club experience focuses on three priority outcomes : Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Positive Citizenship.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

Facility and Child Safety :

  • Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned site
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities. Abide by facility maintenance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within required timeline
  • Maintain discipline, de-escalate conflict between members and / or others
  • Obtain and renew CPR and First Aid certification by deadline

Administrative Compliance :

  • Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time.
  • Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting. Ensure accuracy of data and reporting. Ensure the effective completion of all assessment and measurement activities of programs
  • Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes and controls
  • Accountable for accurate and timely collection and review of membership application
  • Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
  • Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively
  • Programming :

  • Accountable for assigned programming and activities
  • Accountable for quality programming and activities and implementing YPQ techniques
  • Accountable for promoting and maintaining a culture of safety in program area(s)
  • Accountable for assigned special programs and initiatives
  • Relationships :

  • Be a positive role model
  • Maintain emotional control and make good decisions under pressure
  • Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner
  • Attendance :

  • Regular attendance is required; arrive on time, work required hours / shift, and leave at scheduled time
  • Requirements

    Education and work experience requirements :

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months of experience working with youth
  • Must meet state requirements for employment at licensed childcare site
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Available to work between the hours of 2 pm-7 pm Monday - Friday during the school year; up to 37.5 hours per week during summer Monday - Friday
  • Ability to be a positive role model
  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships
  • Ability to relate to at-risk youth
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Some College
  • Ability to facilitate, teach, or instruct
  • Bilingual
  • Currently certified in CPR / First Aid
  • Knowledge of various program areas such as healthy lifestyles, culture and arts, academics, social development and teen interests
  • Work experience or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and / or local Club) is an advantage
  • Pay & Benefits :

    Hourly pay : $14.05 (Non-Exempt)

    Benefits : Eligible for paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay
