PURPOSE OF POSITION :
The primary purpose of the Licensed Practice Nurse - to provide direct patient care, provide patient and family teaching, and work cooperatively within the interdisciplinary health care team in maintaining standards of nursing care under the direction of the registered nurse and within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
QUALIFICATION :
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Ohio
- IV certified
- Current BLS certification
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic nursing service, knowledge, and skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based practice
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situationIdentifies and reports changes in patients' status to Registered Nurse for evaluationDocuments nursing activities accurately and in a timely mannerImplements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment under the direction of the Registered NurseAdministers treatments and other direct carePrepares and administers medications as prescribed
Administers peripheral IV medications as prescribed within the scope of licensure under the supervision of the Registered nurseObserves and evaluates residents' responses to medicationsIdentifies and promptly communicates adverse drug reactions to the Registered NurseCollects specimens as orderedInteracts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleaguesCollaborates with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practiceIntegrates ethical provisions in all areas of practiceThe above statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principle functions of the job as identified, and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.
