At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking a Research Assistant. The Research Assistant will work under the direction of Dr. Kim Tran, MD, PhD on various experimental paradigms aimed at developing and characterizing a novel vasorelaxing peptide. This is a full-time position funded by the National Institutes of Health award for three years.

What you’ll do :

  • Order reagents and supplies, prepare stock and working reagents for experiments.
  • Maintain lab organization and databases. Organize standard procedures and protocols.
  • Follow and ensure compliance with regulatory policies.
  • Plan and run experiments as required.
  • Secure and organize experimental data through lab records and experimental databases.
  • Participate in the training of students working under the PI’s supervision.
  • Participate in the preparation of scientific presentation materials and / or presentation of these materials.

What we’re looking for :

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in the biomedical sciences or related field.
  • Experience with cellular and molecular biology techniques is required.
  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, spectrofluorometry and other fluorescence biochemical applications is desired.
  • Experience with protein expression, purification and / or characterization is desired.
  • Experience with laboratory animals and hemodynamic monitoring is desired.
