Your day to day as a Education Coordinator
As the Education Coordinator at The Buffalo History Museum, you will play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive atmosphere that welcomes and engages diverse audiences. Your responsibilities will include developing resources for children, families, and educators, all inspired by the museum's rich collection, focused on the history of the Erie Canal. You'll develop resources for volunteer docents to use in the Canalside exhibit, and for teachers to use in their classrooms. Through outreach, you will strengthen relationships with local schools and programs to organize educational programs and tours.
Additionally, you'll promote Canalside initiatives at community events and collaborate closely with the Membership and Volunteer Coordinator to enhance the docent team. You will create and sustain a dynamic educational experience for all guests, by training and mentoring volunteers and a part-time educator to lead engaging, interactive tours. You will also supervise educational programs, create evaluation processes for tours and materials, and develop dynamic programming for various audiences.
Finally, as a manager at Canalside, you'll help lead the team and troubleshoot issues to guarantee a seamless experience for all guests.

A Bachelor's degree, preferably in History, Social Studies, or Education, or equivalent experience, provides a strong foundation for this role.
