Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM
Position Overview :
The Database Administrator will support the Department of Health Services (DHS) by managing SQL databases for application development teams. This position involves collaborating with developers and stakeholders to integrate databases, design efficient data models, and maintain system security. The candidate will work closely with the Division of Enterprise Technology (DET) to manage server patching, software upgrades, and compliance with security regulations.
This role requires expertise in SQL database services, strong analytical skills, and the ability to interact with cross-functional teams, including technical administrators, program staff, and external vendors.
Responsibilities :
- Work with developers to integrate SQL databases with applications
- Analyze user requirements and create efficient database schemas
- Ensure database security, compliance, and proper access controls
- Manage database backups, recovery procedures, and server validation
- Monitor and optimize database performance using tuning and maintenance tools
- Collaborate with DET to oversee server patching, software upgrades, and system maintenance
- Support application database migrations and system integrations
- Maintain DHS change management policies for database updates
Requirements :
8 years of experience with SQL database administrationProficiency in SQL Server (2016, 2019, 2022), SSIS, SSRS, SSASStrong understanding of database security, schema management, and performance tuningHands-on experience with SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, Red Gate Comparison, Report Builder, and Oracle SQL DeveloperAbility to write complex SQL queries for data retrieval, manipulation, and reportingNice to Have :
PowerBI experience for reporting and database analysisKnowledge of Oracle databases, SQL tuning, and database securityExperience with data encryption and compliance standards (HIPAA, MARS-E 2.2, PII)Familiarity with Informatica for data integrationCertifications / Education :
MS SQL DBA certification preferred, BS in Computer Science or related field preferred
