LEAD CUSTODIAN •PROMO ONLY •

DUTIES : Under the general direction of a department or school head, performs supervisory work in the cleaning and maintenance of a City building or school during the second or night shift; has immediate responsibility for a large building or school or supervision over a number of smaller buildings or schools; supervises, directs and participates in the work of subordinate custodial personnel; does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : One (1) year of experience in the rank of Custodian with the City of Stamford.

SCOPE OF EXAMINATION : Open to all City of Stamford employees who meet the above qualifications. There will be a written examination on weighted 100% which will test for the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

• Good knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
• Good knowledge of the principles of fire safety and systems involved in the care of buildings, including OSHA regulations.
• Skill in making repairs.
• Ability to plan, supervise and direct the work of custodial staff.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to interrelate well with others.
