Account Clerk - Bookkeeper opening at our Pinewood Gardens community located in Norfolk, VA.
PURPOSE OF POSITION : To ensure the accuracy of all routine accounting
transactions of the property, and provide other duties of a clerical / receptionist nature, as
needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Abides by Fair Housing Laws; verifies correct payments are
received from residents; posts payments to account ledgers; prepares bank deposits,
prepares late notices; assists residents with account inquiries; responds to questions
from prospective residents; performs general clerical activities (typing, filing) around the
office.
OCCASIONAL FUNCTIONS : May make bank deposit; may participate in the leasing
function by showing prospective residents the property; may assist the maintenance
department on a relief basis.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :
Required : Demonstrated knowledge and experience with bookkeeping
principles; ability to read, write, and speak English
Preferred : High School graduation, supplemented by accounting / bookkeeping
courses and prior experience as a full-charge bookkeeper
EQUIPMENT USED : Typewriter, calculator, telephone, facsimile machine, and
computer terminal
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES : Walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing stairs, and may
occasionally lift objects up to 25-50 lbs.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND / OR CERTIFICATIONS : Valid Driver’s License if operating
a vehicle.
GENERAL : May be required to work on weekends as necessary.
