WHO YOU ARE :
A creative, flexible art teacher whose responsibilities include sourcing art supplies, preparing lessons, and providing developmentally appropriate instruction on art techniques. You should be able to encourage creativity and self-expression among students. Ultimately, an outstanding art teacher will be attentive and responsive to themes in students' art.
Do you have what it takes?
- Education and Experience :
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
A New Jersey Department of Education Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) in Art.THE ROLE :
Plan, develop and implement art and art history curriculum to meet learning goalsPurchase art materials and maintain the inventory of art materialsPrepare and arrange art materials and art equipment in the classroom for students to useDeliver lectures to students on art, art techniques, art history, and aestheticsGive drawing and painting demonstrations to students to teach them art techniquesInstruct students in working on different drawing, painting, and coloring techniquesDiscuss various artistic approaches and traditions and encourage students to express themselves artisticallyProvide instruction in the use of pencils, pens, charcoal, brushes, watercolors, acrylic colors, oil colors and other art materialsAssign art projects to students, grade the finished art projects, conduct art exams, and maintain records of the student's progressOrganize art exhibitions to display the artworks of students and help them develop their art portfoliosSupport the school administration in developing art programs, attend faculty meetings, and participate in parent-teacher discussionsPerforms other duties as assigned.Salary range : BA $63,414 - $89,264 / MA $64,664 - $90,514Term of Employment : 10.5 MonthsUnion : MPTEAAre You Ready To Join The Village?
