What’s the job?

Urban Surfaces looks to our amazing Warehouse Technician team members to provide excellent customer service while taking on the responsibility of warehouse inventory, order fulfillments, and preparation of vinyl flooring orders to be shipped and delivered. You will represent our company in a professional and cost-effective manner aiming at increasing customer satisfaction and profitability. The ideal candidate will become part of the team, as well as possess a willingness to assist in all aspects of the business.

Warehouse Responsibilities :

  • Sorting and placing materials on racks, shelves, bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product using a sit-down forklift
  • Pulling material from sales orders and assembling customer orders from stock
  • Preparing shipments to be shipped; uses proper packaging techniques and follows established methods for protecting products during shipping as noted in quality work instructions
  • Mark materials with identifying information, barcodes, scan barcodes, and record amounts of materials or items received or distributed
  • Assist in the samples department by cutting, labeling, and / or packing samples of our products
  • Additional duties as assigned by management

Physical Demands : The work requires long periods of sitting as well as long periods of standing and walking. It also requires repeated lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds (all may be performed while occasionally walking up flights of stairs), as well as bending, and stretching. Must be able to work in unfavorable weather conditions such as extreme heat or cold.

Working Environment : To perform job duties associated with warehouse technician, employees will be provided with a RF Scanner, forklift, and other machines / devices required for the position. Job duties associated with warehouse duties will mostly be performed in a warehouse attached to a 2-story office.

Requirements :

  • Ability to operate a smart-phone device
  • Positive & energetic attitude
  • Excellent communication skills preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs (occasionally while going up flights of stairs)
  • Ability to handle unfavorable weather conditions
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack

    • Skills :

  • Proficient in operating forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Knowledge of forklift safety procedures and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
  • Ability to maneuver forklifts in tight spaces and around obstacles.
  • Physical strength and stamina to lift and carry heavy loads, often exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries and strain.
  • Accurate counting and recording of inventory.
  • Familiarity with inventory control systems and RF Scanners
  • Ability to follow procedures for receiving, storing, and shipping goods.
  • Effective verbal communication to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
  • Basic written communication skills for completing paperwork and maintaining accurate records.
  • Precision in stacking and organizing products to maximize space and prevent damage.
  • Careful inspection of goods for quality and accuracy during receiving and shipping.
  • Efficient task prioritization to meet deadlines and fulfill orders promptly.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without compromising safety or accuracy.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Awareness of potential hazards and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with colleagues.
  • Willingness to assist in various warehouse tasks beyond forklift operation and heavy lifting when needed.
  • Flexibility to handle changing work conditions and priorities.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new warehouse technologies and processes.

    • Education :

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Up to date forklift certification, preferred

    • Experience :

  • 2+ years warehouse experience

    • Schedule : Monday to Friday : 9 : 00am - 5 : 30pm

    Job Type : Full-time, Non-exempt

    Starting Pay : $18.00 - 20.50 per hour

    California's Pay Transparency : This position can reasonably expect to earn between $37,440.00- $56,000.00 annually depending on factors such as experience, performance, attendance, etc.
