Are you a student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, with a keen interest in geospatial analysis? Join our team as an intern to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of technology and environmental science. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge geospatial data and tools while contributing to impactful projects related to vegetation health, wildfire dynamics, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing algorithms to process and analyze geospatial datasets using Python and / or R.
  • Explore machine learning methods to classify and interpret remote sensing data, including both supervised and unsupervised techniques.
  • Support the development of scalable workflows for handling large geospatial datasets.
  • Contribute to research and development projects focused on geospatial and computational modeling.
  • Apply spatial data concepts, including projection systems and data structures, to address analytical tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members to integrate geospatial insights into ongoing projects.

Requirements : Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Data Science, Geography, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with programming in Python (preferred) or R, and basic knowledge of geospatial libraries (e.g., GDAL, Geopandas, or Rasterio).
  • Interest in learning about geospatial data formats (e.g., multispectral, LiDAR, SAR) and analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for exploring new tools and methodologies.
  • Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in computer vision techniques for remote sensing, such as deep learning applications with convolutional neural networks (CNNs).
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts and libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow).
  • Exposure to geospatial visualization tools like QGIS, ArcGIS, or web-based mapping platforms.
  • Interest in remote sensing, environmental science, or spatial analysis.
  • Eagerness to work with interdisciplinary teams and contribute creative ideas.

    Our Federal contract requires that, if selected for this position, the candidate provide specific documentation verifying authorization to work in the US and access client systems.
