SUMMARY :
Under direct supervision, fills routine dosage orders and prepackaged pharmaceuticals. Counts, packages, and labels unit doses for inspection by pharmacist and fills routine orders for non-prescription pharmaceuticals. Assists pharmacist in the dispensing of prescriptions and performs a range of staff support functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Pharmacy Responsibilities :
- Enters Admissions, Discharges, and Transfers (ADT’s) into computer system for proper medication order processing
- Processes medication orders / prescriptions including refill requests
- Completes adjudication / reconciliation of claims associated with prescriptions, including insurance verification, prior authorizations, and enters charges to patient accounts
- Refers insurance rejections regarding therapeutic and clinical decisions to a pharmacist
- Packages and labels medication into approved packaging for inspection and approval by the pharmacist according to departmental Quality Control Standards
- Checks refrigerator for stability and accurate labeling of all refrigerated medications.
- Picks up and delivers pharmacy documents and pharmaceuticals to / from various units
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies in the Pharmacy department, resident care areas, and emergency kit
- Processes drug recalls when required in accordance with departmental policy and procedure
- Assists customers on the phone and at the pharmacy counter for orders and refills
- Performs a range of routine administrative tasks for the pharmacy when required
- Demonstrates proficiency with software system and other technology utilized
- Assists the pharmacist in all aspects of medication distribution
- Understand and comply with all state / federal laws and regulations
- Understand and comply with all policies and procedures for the distribution of medications

Requirements
Minimum Requirements :
High school diploma or GED required. Must be at least 18 years old. Must have completed the approved national technician certification program and be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with Montana State Board of Pharmacy. Must have pharmacy experience or in accordance with Montana State Board of Pharmacy Regulations. Be in good standing with the Office of Inspector General.

Requires moderate physical work, including lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 30 pounds occasionally, bending, standing, and reaching.
