The Annex Teen Clinic provides sexual health care and education for young adults through age 25 in a friendly, non-judgmental, and comfortable atmosphere. Our services are low-cost, medically accurate, and developmentally appropriate. The Annex Teen Clinic has been providing services in Northwest Hennepin County and North Minneapolis since 1971. We pride ourselves on creating a comfortable, relaxed, and social work environment for mission-driven employees. We provide the full range of birth control methods, STI testing and treatment, pregnancy testing and all-options counseling and referrals, as well as sexuality education.

Wages

33 - $35 per hour

Benefits

Earned sick and safe time; ATC sponsors a retirement plan with a 3% employer contribution after one year of service.

Schedule

This position is on-call, scheduled to work approximately five hours per week. Paid 30-minute lunches are provided daily, with appropriate breaks as necessary throughout the day. No weekend commitments are required for this position.

A Typical Day in the Life...

A typical day as a Registered Nurse at the Annex provides an opportunity to provide assessments, patient care, counseling, referrals, and supporting care in clinics and community settings. Responsibilities include the following :

  • Providing individual nursing assessments, including reviewing the reason for the visit, personal history, sexual health history, education, and referrals.
  • Taking vital signs, documenting and communicating findings, completing basic lab services such as urine pregnancy tests, urinalysis, blood draws, rapid HIV and syphilis tests, and preparing specimens for outside reference labs.
  • Providing triage and nursing care based on standing orders and clinic protocols, including performing phone triage and following up as needed.
  • Offering all-options pregnancy counseling and making referrals to prenatal care, abortion care, or adoption resources as indicated.
  • Assisting Nurse Practitioners with patient care and procedures, while documenting services provided in the patient's record.
  • Communicating abnormal test results and developing follow-up plans with patients.
  • Traveling and providing RN services at off-site, community-based locations.
  • Who You Are

  • You are a Registered Nurse with a current Minnesota license, a valid driver's license, and daily access to reliable transportation to attend meetings and visit community sites in North Minneapolis.
  • You can work sensitively and competently with diverse populations.
  • You have experience providing reproductive health care, adolescent health care, and / or transgender health care.
  • You possess the ability to work independently, utilizing strong problem-solving skills and effective verbal and written communication.
  • You can lift and carry up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • You ensure client confidentiality, maintain HIPAA compliance, and exercise independent judgment and initiative in performing your duties.
  • You can work effectively in a team-based, mission-driven agency with clients and staff from diverse backgrounds in race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, nationality, and religion.
  • You have knowledge of harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and youth-development principles and best practices.
  • You are proficient with NextGen EHR, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Preferably, you have a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet Annex Teen Clinic's driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
