Job description

A new opportunity to work at a spinal implant company in the medical device community and lead our Accounting & Finance Department. This role reports directly to the CFO and provides future career growth opportunity to elevate into a Controller position. Manage and collaborate with an established staff of two accountants. Looking for an individual to “own” the monthly close process along with being the liaison for annual audit and tax.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Duties and Responsibilities also include :

  • Manage and develop a team of 2 Staff Accountants.
  • General Ledger maintenance and preparation of journal entries.
  • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures (meet / exceed close schedule due dates).
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close checklist.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies.
  • Prepare quarterly reporting requirements related to banking covenants.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for annual tax returns.
  • Lead the internal and external audits, assist with preparation of financial statement footnotes and supplemental information.
  • Prepare and file corporate annual reports.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications : Four-year degree in Accounting required along with 3 - 5 years of Accounting experience. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in the state of Illinois, a plus. Progressive Corporate Accounting experience with general ledger management, preparation of financial statements, payroll and annual audits, preferred. Good understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP); Microsoft Dynamics AX experience, a plus.

  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in areas of responsibility.
  • Well-organized with good analytical and time management skills.
  • Able to react to situations with a "Sense of Urgency".
  • Computer proficient, including intermediate level understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Physical Demands : Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

    Anticipated Travel : Less than 5%
