Job description

Remote Outpatient Hospital Coders

Pay Range : $24 - 30 / hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Performs remote coding for hospitals via scanned medical records and abstracts via access to hospital abstracting system as part of a corporate coding organization.

Codes Outpatient Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Catheterization, Wound Care records, Emergency Department (Diagnosis & Procedure), and Ancillary services.

Attends coding education as scheduled.

Other duties may be assigned

Maintains productivity levels while maintaining a 95% coding accuracy rate.

Qualifications : Required Education :

High School Diploma or GED

ICD-10-CM & CPT

Preferred Education :

1 year coding certification, Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field

Knowledge of related prospective payment systems, anatomy, physiology, ancillary testing, and medical terminology

Broad knowledge of pharmacology indications for drug usage and related adverse reactions

Preferred Experience :

2 years’ acute care hospital outpatient coding experience

Required License / Registration / Certification :

CPC, CCA, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT

Computer Skills Required :

Experience with virtual desktop image, electronic medical record systems, encoding systems as well as word processing and spreadsheet software
