Recreation Specialist II

Develops, coordinates, implements, organizes and evaluates varied year-round athletic and recreational activities, and programs for youth, teens and adults. Programs and services may be self-directed, leader-directed, facilitated and permitted or cooperative. Assists with facilitation of programs / services, interacts with program participants and volunteers, inclusive of youth, teens, adults and seniors. Communicates information to the public, participants, sponsors, committee members and staff regarding Department and facilities. Recruits, trains, supervises and maintains records for contractual staff and volunteers. Liaises with the public, youth / adult sports providers, community organizations, schools, parents, event committees, and boards of directors and other departments to obtain / provide information, promote / formulate new programs and further public relations for the County. Work is performed under general supervision with considerable independence and is reviewed through conferences, reports and evaluation of results obtained.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Health and Physical Education or related field; minimum of one (1) year of experience organizing and supervising recreational activities.

Equivalencies :

Unrelated Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of related experience

Related Associate's Degree and three (3) years of related experience

Unrelated Associate's Degree and four (4) years of related experience

Graduation for high school or an equivalent recognized certification and five (5) years of related experience.

Necessary Special Requirement : Must obtain First Aid / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification within six (6) months of hire.
