Watercrest Winter Park is looking for an Assisted Living Med Tech to join their Resident Care team! As a key member of the team, you will ensure the day-to-day medication management program of our residents is provided in an accurate, sensitive, professional and effective way in accordance with current regulations, The Assisted Living Med Tech may also perform day-to-day activities of care giving for the residents and participates in the Dining and Community program to ensure the best quality of care is provided for all residents.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Distribute prescribed medication to residents and maintains related medical records under supervision of the Resident Wellness Director and maintains compliance with the RIGHTS of medicationPresents medication to resident as required by the MOR and observes ingestion or other application, or assists in the administration of medication, using specified proceduresTakes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactionsDocuments reasons prescribed drugs are not administered, held, changed, disposed of, discontinued or returned on the MORReview and participate in 24 Hour Reports, Daily Logs, Shift Cross-over Reports and verbal reports as neededMonitors medications to ensure adequate accountability measures are taken when medications are ordered, received into the community, administered and at change of shift as required by policy and proceduresRespects the resident’s rights regarding medicationNotifies the Wellness Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse) or Resident Wellness Director (Director of Nursing) of unauthorized medication held by the residentSeeks advice from the Wellness Nurse or Resident Wellness Director prior to administering any medication that does not seem correctUnderstands and can explain the medication dosage / pharmacology when necessaryRefrains from giving any PRN medications as required by law (if applicable by state)Complete incident and accident reports and documentation timelyReport changes in resident condition to RWD or Nurse designee immediatelyRefrains from providing any treatment that does not fall under their specific licensingAssist residents with their personal care and activities of daily living as assigned and as requested by residentsPerform daily housekeeping tasks as assigned using established procedures and standardsRespond to resident emergency callsAssure that established infection control practices are maintainedReport all hazardous conditions and equipment to the supervisorAssure the equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of each shiftReport all accidents and incidents as soon as possible to your supervisor, no matter how minorMaintain the confidentiality of residents’ personal care informationHonor the residents’ personal and property rightsMust be in company uniform and resident ready at all timesKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources and outside contactsAble to make independent decisionsMust be able to communicate in a warm, friendly and caring mannerMust possess a passion to work with and around senior citizensKnowledge of customer service principles and practicesEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
High School Diploma or GEDLicense / Certificate for Medication Assistance as required per state regulationsCPR certification / First Aid certificationEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Experience as a Resident Caregiver or Med Tech preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
