SUMMARY
As a Principal Systems Engineer, Product Definition you will be responsible for new product definition, as well as system level design and architecture of Allegro’s next generation magnetic current Sensor IC products. You will be asked to integrate new sensing technologies to offer unique customer solutions. Allegro Microsystems, LLC is a world leader in magnetic sensor ICs for the automotive industry, which is requiring greater numbers of advanced sensors, for hybrid and electric vehicle applications. Allegro’s sensors are also widely used in industrial applications and green energy solutions.
In this role you will be part of the product development team, working closely with IC designers, product evaluators, and marketing / sales personnel.
WHAT YOU”LL DO
Join forces with marketing to create initial product requirements by understanding the customer application requirements (electrical, mechanical, thermal) and performing functional system modeling
Team up with Allegro technologists to understand and integrate new sensing technologies in order to advance the performance of Allegro’s current sensor ICs
Lead the feasibility study for new products in conjunction with IC design engineers and marketing and present the results to management
Provide technical guidance and support to the development team during the design and evaluation of the new product before market release, including :
Propose the test strategy and work with the design engineering, test engineering and product validation engineering groups to ensure compliance to the product requirements
Work with the packaging engineering team ensure that the product meets the thermal and insulation requirements
Work with customers and the sales organization to help customers use Allegro’s current sensors ICs
Author datasheets and other technical support material for new products
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a BSEE or MSEE or equivalent with10 + years of experience
A solid understanding of analog and digital electronics, magnetics and package thermal properties is essential in this position
Knowledge of MATLAB / Simulink or other modeling tools is preferred
Experience with safety isolation and high-voltage breakdown is desired
Must possess interpersonal and communication skills as a technical leader of the team
Knowledge and background in the semiconductor industry, including manufacturing and packaging, is desired
Experience managing and mentoring junior engineers is a plus
