Job Summary :

The Counselor is responsible in assisting in the supervision of 9-15 children and helping to plan and conduct a variety of safe, fun and interesting activities.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Creates a climate where students and staff have positive and respectful relationships with each other.
  • Assist in the supervision of 9-15 campers and be responsible for their health and safety at all times.
  • Implement a variety of camp activities appropriate for ages assigned in

individual, and small and large groups based on the themes / curriculum developed for Summer.

  • Participate in all activities with the campers. Encourage and facilitate camper's participation in all activities by implementing appropriate strategies, such as visual structure and reinforcements.
  • Assist and supervise campers in all aspects of self-care, including dressing and undressing, eating, grooming and hygiene, toileting, and any other areas of daily living. If your camper is self-sufficient in these areas, close supervision and monitoring are still required.
  • Implement behavior management strategies according to the UCP guidelines.
  • Assist in the care and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in ensuring that parents / guardians complete and sign daily attendance forms electronically (via Brightwheel).
  • Assist in assist in ensuring that parents receive daily or weekly communication regarding their child.
  • Document incidents via portal and communicate to parent / guardian and Principal / Summer Enrichment Program Coordinator.
  • Report any unusual events or parent / staff concerns to Principal or Summer Enrichment Program Coordinator.
  • Attend training, staff meetings and special events as scheduled.
  • Act as a role model, representing UCP of Central Florida always.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education and Training : (or equivalent)

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Active First Aid / CPR Training
  • 45 Hour DCF Training
  • Minimum Experience :

  • Minimum of two years of experience working with diverse children in a PreK, school or camp setting.
  • Prefer experience working with children with special needs.
