Work Schedule : Monday – Friday, 8 – 5

Summary

The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery is seeking an Audiologist. The ideal candidate should have experience in providing comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of audiologically impaired patients on an out-patient basis in a fast-paced, high volume Neurotology / Otology clinic. A successful candidate will positively contribute to our patients' experience by providing compassionate care, and being a reliable member of the team. Ideally, candidates will have an interest in working in an outpatient facility with surgical patients and the desire to work closely with surgeons and learners in an academic setting. The ideal candidate will also have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of patients, the ability to problem solve to adapt standard clinical procedures to the individual patient's needs, the ability to interpret, adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions, and the ability to work and contribute in a team environment.

Job Duties

Administers and interprets audiological evaluations and assessments
Assesses the candidacy of persons with hearing loss for hearing aids, osseointegrated devices, and cochlear implants; provide fitting, programming, and audiological rehabilitation to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Counsels individuals with auditory disorders, their families and other service providers regarding the etiology of the disorder and its management.
Provides reports and coordinates audiological results with other diagnostic data such as educational, medical, social and behavioral information.
Maintains professional certification by meeting all continuing education requirements.
Maybe required to dispense hearing aids to patients.
Maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation.
May perform and interpret vestibular evaluations.
May perform electrophysiology assessments.

May serve as preceptor to Audiology students.

Maintains supplies and equipment.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Audiology.

No experience required.

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Texas State Licensure as an Audiologist from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR).
