Job Title : Sr. Field Engineering Tech Analyst

Location : Michigan - Lansing, Jackson, Royal Oak, Livonia - field work
Position Overview :
The Senior Engineering Technical Analyst will integrate with the operations and construction teams for large-scale gas distribution replacement projects. This role is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of moderately complex projects, leveraging advanced equipment and technologies to assist with positional verifications and documenting in-field changes during construction.
The Senior Engineering Technical Analyst will directly support construction teams in the field and assist in the collection of as-installed gas asset information using GPS antennas, leveraging GIS applications to manage and document relevant data. This position will report to the Contractor Oversight Liaison and collaborate with Engineering personnel working on large, complex distribution plastic gas main construction projects.
Key Responsibilities :
- Leverage GIS and GPS technologies to collect as-installed asset information on construction projects, supporting the development of accurate records.
- Provide technical expertise on construction concerns, particularly where positional relationships are involved.
- Develop, maintain, and apply documentation processes for integrated systems, including hardware, applications, protocols, point lists, and revision control related to GIS and GPS technology.
- Participate in meetings and demonstrations, including Operating Reviews, technology field demos, and pre-construction meetings.
- Travel to job sites and project meetings, with travel requirements varying depending on project location.
- Willingness to work additional hours as necessary to meet project deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned or deemed necessary for the successful completion of the role.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
In-depth technical understanding of construction, design, and record development for natural gas distribution systems, including the ability to read construction prints, understanding construction and safety practices, and compliance with regulatory requirements.Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Proficient in the use of GPS antenna hardware and software.Knowledge of surveying control practices.Expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and Field Maps.Familiarity with natural gas distribution systems.Strong teamwork skills, analytical thinking, and a willingness to learn new technologies and processes.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
