Project Manager

About the Role

The Project Manager will play a key role in the BetMGM Project Management organization, leading strategic initiatives and a variety of varied-sized programs and projects across BetMGM. Using your strong process and planning skills, you will manage projects like new market launches for our Retail and / or Mobile technologies, Operational Optimization, or Compliance focused projects. The focus will be new market launches, but projects can vary based on business demand. This role provides a unique way to get exposure to a variety of business areas, including the executive team, and learn about the Sportsbetting business in a holistic way. The Project Manager will work with internal and external stakeholders to manage high-visibility, varied size, and varied complexity projects and initiatives that span one or multiple lines of business. They will create project plans, ensure delivery against the plan, resolve risks and issues as they arise and effectively communicate progress to executive and senior stakeholders using universal project management standards and BetMGM PMO standards. They will understand business needs for each project and make ongoing decisions based on what’s best for the organization—even if that means challenging senior stakeholders on critical success factors. They will have an active role in driving the project to success. They will contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong multi-tasking skills and an ability to plan / prioritize a changing workload within a fast-paced environment where there may be ambiguity while dealing with a wide range of stakeholders.

• Creates the program and project governance structures from scratch
• Complies with and effectively applies project management methodology and enforces project standards
• Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet needs and requirements
• Identifies resources needed, assigns responsibilities, and hold team accountable to fixed dates and commitments
• Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project to ensure delivery within scope, budget, and time
• Facilitates and guides project teams effectively with proper use of tools, processes, and visibility
• Inspires and motivates co-workers to attain goals and pursue excellence
• Work alongside project coordinators and junior project managers in the profession and across projects in areas as leadership, methodology, tools, people skills, and navigating various environmental factors
• Manage high-visibility, and varied complexity projects and initiatives that span one or multiple lines of business
• Full project life cycle ownership from inception, scoping, delivery, and closing : successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
• Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test, and deployment management activities
• Manage projects with a solutions-driven approach providing teams clear direction and clearing any ambiguity
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
• Understand business needs for each project and make ongoing decisions based on what’s best for the organization—even if that means challenging senior stakeholders on critical success factors
• Verify that the project produces the required deliverables of quality, within the strict first-to-market constraints of time
• Develop and deliver project deliverables, progress reports, artifacts, communication plans, risk plans and other related documents & presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, C-level executives, and other key stakeholders
• Effectively sets and manages stakeholder expectations
• Deliver appropriate, concise, clear, and effective executive-level communication
• Manage project and initiative issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline including resolution and timely escalations
• Must be able to stand or sit and operate computers and other technological devices for extended periods of time
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 7+ years of experience in project management
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and large, established company
• Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across, and down multiple business and technology organizations, and support a diverse and inclusive work environment
• Knowledge and / or exposure to the SDLC process
• Understand interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs
• Experience working with external partner casinos (tribal and non-tribal)
• Excellent communication skills and experience communicating with external partners
• Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
• Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors with demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management
• Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus, and achieve objectives
• Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and possess a holistic business view
• Work independently with minimal supervision
• Pro-active and can-do approach to problem-solving
• Experience in Gaming preferred
• Ability to travel (optional)
