About the role

Position Summary : The Accounting Manager plays a key role as a member of the Management Team in fulfilling the DecksDirect's mission – Help People Build Better Decks – and is accountable for performing accounting activities and financial analysis in support of our business units, leading our accounting team and oversight of the company's financial operations. This is a dynamic role providing reconciliation, transaction oversight, reporting, and analytical support for a growing e-commerce business.

The Accounting Manager will also play a crucial role in accurate financial reporting, implementing effective internal controls, and providing insightful analysis to support informed business decisions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial management, and leadership. The ideal candidate will also thrive in a player / coach role with the ability to roll up their sleeves and do the work while also providing supervision of finance department team members.

Responsibilities :

Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions with a hands-on approach, including but not limited to : Oversee financial transactions for coding and accuracySales Tax and State Agency Filings and paymentsSupport and ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close; meet internal and external reporting deadlinesTimely completion of monthly account reconciliationsBusiness support to commercial and operational partnersAccurate preparation of journal entries as part of month-end closing processManage intercompany sales, payables and receivables, ensuring proper reconciliation and elimination at period endSupport daily / weekly treasury functions by processing wires, checks, cash forecasting and other daily cash reporting functionsVarious audit schedules and functions as needed to support a clean and efficient year-end audit

Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelinesCollaborate with the leadership team, managers, and other key leaders as appropriate, to resolve issues and identify opportunities Offer recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes and procedures. Encourages the development of finance department team members by providing relevant information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunitiesUnderstand legal and financial regulations and requirements to ensure compliance and keep the company in good standingResponsible for overall accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Treasury, and Payroll.Ensuring systems of internal controls are in place to safeguard company data, assets, and systems. Monitor and identify expenses / accounts to ensure proper allocation of spending and determine if there are ways to reduce expensesDefine and document all finance Core Processes and Standard Operating ProceduresEncourages the development of finance team members by providing relevant information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.Providing management with information vital to the decision-making processCoordinating and preparing internal and external financial statementsOverseeing regulatory reporting, including sales tax, tax planning and complianceLeverage technology and data to develop findings and make strategic recommendationsOther duties as assigned

Qualifications :

Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or similar role5+ years of experience in Finance / Accounting rolesIn-depth knowledge of accounting principles and regulationsDemonstrated experience in financial analysis and reportingAbility to manage and lead a team effectivelyStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsBachelor's degree in accounting or financeExperience in a direct sales retail / distribution environment is a plusProficiency with Oracle NetSuite is a plusCPA designation is a plus

Full-time bonus-eligible positionSalaried / Exempt (not eligible for overtime) $90,000-100,000 annuallyReports to : Chief Financial OfficerLocation : Plymouth, MN
