Dion Lee is a designer brand, based in New York City. The Dion Lee aesthetic is technical with an intelligent sensuality. Each collection marries innovative construction, with a consciousness of the form. Textiles are engineered to form sculptural embellishments.

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Technical Designer to join our team. The role will follow two collections seasonally and work from prototype through QC shipper. Categories include wovens, cut and sew, knitwear, and unisex. This position will report to the Production Director.

TECHNICAL DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Collaborate with the design team to capture the design intention for women’s wovens, knits, cut and sew jersey, and unisex garments.
Create initial design specs and tech packs for P1 launch, ensuring all necessary information is included for the first prototype.
Advise on technical make and seaming construction as needed, maintaining consistency across styles by originating specs and using classic block measurements.
Update POM and Illustrator technical drawings as required.
Accurately measure all samples and work with vendors to ensure clarity in POMs.
Record all spec measurements throughout the proto to QC sample stages.
Attend all fittings through development and production, assisting the design team in resolving fit issues across multiple product categories.
Establish a block system with offshore vendors and support prototype launches in the offseason.

PRODUCTION

Create and communicate fit comments for fittings from prototype to PPS.

Conduct video calls with overseas vendors to run through comments and explain details.

Ensure spec and grading consistencies across all products, creating final sealed specs and grading charts for all vendors.

Troubleshoot concerns and update charts throughout the production process.

Call in industrialized graded patterns from offshore vendors and store graded specs in the internal library for future use.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Proficiency in grading styles.

Excellent collaborative, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in Illustrator for technical drawing.
