Summary / Purpose
Manage all Production Control functions with the purpose of creating and executing the master schedule to meet customer demand, work-in-process inventory, finish goods inventory, and plant productivity objectives.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities :
Manage and control in-house material inventory (FG, WIP, RAW), including shop floor material handling, control stores management, receiving and shippingSupport the improvement of material handling systems, delivery routes, sight management systems and functional proceduresSupport Kaizen department and Production Control efforts to implement / improve TPS, production systems including Kanban system, Heijunka, etc.Lead efforts to develop safe material handling practices and environmentsSupplier release and master scheduling system managementLead Monthly (4 –month horizon) plant wide production meetingsCustomer contact responsibility for production planning and product delivery requirementsLead efforts to improve supplier delivery focusing on worst performers, engage purchasing for supportCreate departmental budgets and manpower plan and manage within planned expense / manpowerMonitor line performance to schedule and initiate corrective actions as requiredSet inventory planning policy and control inventory levels to desired reduction targets (lead time reduction).Initiate and lead corrective actions to improve inventory accuracyDevelop systems to reduce obsolete and slow moving materials (follow POCP process)Track delivery performance and lead efforts to implement corrective actionsLead PC activity to implement all Oracle phases.Manage FMDS systems and work to implement across all buildings and internal support areasWork daily overtime and Saturdays and / or Sundays when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.Perform other duties as assignedMaintain privacy of all PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulationsSupervisory Responsibilities :
This position is responsible for supervising a department of 12-15 direct reports in accordance with policies and procedures.Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word, Access, Oracle systemMust be self-motivated, possess excellent organizational and analytical skillsCommunicate and effectively deal with suppliers, customers and other departmentsBasic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systemsThe above may be waived by the General Manager / Manager and the Human Resources Manager if the candidate is otherwise qualified.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor of Science in Business, Materials Management, or Engineering, or equivalent experience, including 6-8 years of leadership experience in automotive related manufacturing, material management, customer contact, warehousing, or production control functionWork Environment / Physical Demands :
Sit with intermittent walkingManual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writingCommunicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phoneVisually read reports, computer screen, etc.Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked / day, 5 days / weekEmployee may perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
