Join a professional team working to locate prospective borrowers and procuring mortgage loans in accordance with credit union guidelines. The MLO responds to inquiries and conducts interviews for loan applicants, evaluating their credit and guiding them through the process. Oversees or handles applicable mechanical components such as ordering appraisals, scheduling closings, etc.
Who You Are
Thorough knowledge of mortgage terminology, processes, and procedures, including all related real estate regulatory compliance.Professional and well-developed communication skills and phone etiquette to work cooperatively with members, co-workers, prospective clients, and associates in the mortgage industry.Intermediate mathematical experience required.Strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must. Self-motivated, analytical and detail oriented.Ability to organize and prioritize to meet numerous deadlines and adapt to changes in workflow.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to members, other employees of the credit union and outside parties.What You'll Do
Develops and maintains successful relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. May visit real estate offices, make cold calls, attend related industry events for builders and build a network of professional contacts.Responds to mortgage inquiries generated from all sources such as : web application, e-mail, walk-in or phone-in members, branch, or lending staff. Exercises potential cross sell opportunities based upon qualifying techniques regarding financial status, credit, and property valuation of loan request.Reviews and evaluates mortgage loan applications for creditworthiness making quality decisions in a timely manner. Submits and processes applications according to accepted underwriting policies, practices, and procedures.Attain data to calculate payment information and prepare TRID disclosures within specified timeframe.Review mortgage files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance standards. Perform file maintenance on mortgage loans.Prepare, process, and organize mortgage files for submission to underwriting.Education and Experience
This position requires registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with NMLSAt least two years' experience in mortgage lending or related profession.Specialized training of one year preferred, but not required.High school diploma or GEDAny combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job requiredJob Posted by ApplicantPro
