Purpose and Scope : The Machine Operator I will perform tasks related to the efficient operation of machinery, primarily focusing on burning plates and parts safely using Messer burn table equipment and associated tools. This role also includes assisting with tasks that support welding operations and general production needs.
Operate machinery to cut and shape plates and parts in a safe and efficient manner, following process work instructions.
Suggest improvements to enhance productivity and quality.Read and interpret advanced blueprints and communicate effectively to ensure project requirements are met.Exhibit a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and teamwork.Assist welders by setting up, maintaining, and organizing welding equipment and tools.Prepare workpieces for welding by cleaning, grinding, cutting and measuring materials.Position and hold workpieces in place for welding, using clamps, jigs, or other holding devices.Perform basic welding tasks under the guidance of experiences welder, as appropriate.Testing and inspections of tanks to guarantee the highest standards of quality, safety, and functionality in production.Perform visual inspections of tanks during and after the manufacturing process to identify defects, irregularities, or deviations from inspections.Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of testing equipment to guarantee accurate and reliable results.Receive metal shipments and organize it in the proper area.Help tank plumber test all tanks for leaks before releasing them to the next department.Tacking correct tags on assigned tanks.Load and unload trailers wit h finished and unfinished tanks.Specific Tasks for PositionUse equipment such as O2 / Fuel hand torches, hand grinders, hand scrapers, tape measures, and calipers to complete assigned tasks.
Access and reference work instructions for current jobs or projects while understanding department KPIs, metrics, and expectations.Perform fraction / decimal calculations as part of intermediate math requirements.Operate machinery and safely run overhead cranes to handle materials.Certified operation of forklifts to manage material movement.Perform maintenance tasks, including changing parts in torch heads and making minor program adjustments.Weigh cut parts and raw materials to ensure safe material handling.Utilize basic computer knowledge for downloading programs and tracking production progress.Clean and de-burr plates as needed to prepare materials for further use.Perform daily operational checks and maintain a clean and organized work area.Assist with production tasks, including aiding other operators when required.Qualifications :
Education : High school diploma or GED equivalentExperience : Minimum of 2 years of experience required. Previous work experience in heavy industrial or construction is preferred.
