  • Education and Experience

    Bachelor's degree (BA / BS) from four-year college or university required.

    • Minimum 4 years of IT project management experience.
    • Project implementation experience required.
    • Demonstrated experience using PMIS preferred (Project Server, MS Project, SharePoint, ServiceNow). MS Office, web technologies, and technology in general.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.
    • Practical knowledge of PMI (PMBOK) methodology required.
    • IS Healthcare background strongly preferred.
    • Environmental / Working Conditions
    • Works in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs of other departments.

    • Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
    • This position requires interaction with most other UMC departments, medical staff, technical personnel at TTUHSC and PNS. This position also deals directly with technical support analysts employed by contracted hardware and software vendors.

    • Job Description
    • The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict methodologies in order to meet expected deadlines and budgets. This includes coordinating the efforts of internal team members, vendors, and third party resources in order to deliver projects according to the defined project plan, and measuring the status and ultimate success of the project against predefined project metrics.

    • The role of the Project Management Office is to establish, implement, and control best practices for IT project management throughout the organization. This includes defining and documenting all policies and processes of project lifecycles in order to deliver these projects according to plan and within budget. The IT Project Management Office will also create formal methodologies for defining project key performance metrics and allocating resources.
    • Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
    • BA / BS degree required. PMP certification required. ITIL certification preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.

    • Physical Capabilities
    • Work is of medium demand; walking, sitting and standing most of the time while on-duty. Occasional lifting of equipment is required. Adequate hand / eye coordination and fine motor skills required for typing. Talking and hearing is essential in dealing with co-workers and customers.

    • Ability to independently manage large, complex projects with an entrepreneurial mentality and sense of urgency

    • Possesses critical thinking skills
    • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely with a high attention to detail. Excellent communication skills are a must.
    • Ability to mentor / educate general staff on project management processes and methodologies.
