Job description

Director of Programs

The Director of Programs is directly responsible for administrative, operational, and programmatic support, leadership, and oversight of assigned programs, units, projects, initiatives, budgets and / or divisions based on the mission, vision, values and strategies of the agency. The Director of Programs is responsible for researching, planning, developing and implementing the agency's programs. . In addition the Director of Programs is responsible for the oversight of all program personnel, contract obligations, goals objective and outcomes via direct supervision of the programs Managers, Supervisors, and Coordinators. The Programs Director is responsible for training , coaching and consulting as well as managing the culture of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage risks and issues not solvable at the project level and escalated to the program level or identified at the program level
  • Communicate with stakeholders on project performance and project issues
  • Coordinate each project within the program to ensure that objectives are achieved
  • Manage project reporting on project accomplishments, deliverables, and milestones against project drivers
  • Review project schedules with functional project managers and project coordinators allocated to projects
  • Coordinate and support program delivery and processes
  • Ensure documentation and archiving of the project activities
  • Ensure that all project deliverables and timing are met
  • Establish effective project or program oversight and other governance bodies, and engage the appropriate stakeholders to support the direction of the project or program and enable a superior customer experience
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to project team members
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in managing teams of employees in a behavioral health, non-profit, or similar setting in a management level role
  • Evidence of continuing professional development / experience in field of study
  • Demonstrate strong Project Management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and personnel and program growth
  • Demonstrate successes in developing and evaluating program models and selecting and successfully operationalizing innovative programs
  • Strength in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, Coaching, and retaining individuals and teams, empowering them to elevate their levels of responsibility, span-of-control, and performance; develop and maintain effective communication and appropriate working relationships with staff
  • Deep understanding of employee performance improvement plans and corrective action policies
  • Demonstrate results in managing through complex systems
