The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston are seeking a collaborative Board Certified / Board Eligible OBGYN to serve as an Academic Laborist in the division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Laborists will work 3 shifts weekly and approximately 24 hours of weekend coverage per month (with a mixture of days / nights). Physicians will provide care on Labor and Delivery which includes the supervision of residents and medical students. In addition, there may be opportunity for gynecologic coverage. Nonclinical time will be dedicated to academic pursuits. This role is ideal for physicians who seek to establish and grow their academic careers. Department leadership will partner with each physician to create an individual plan for academic growth and potential by providing mentorship and research opportunities through our Division of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as through the Department’s Division of Research that is embedded within the department. The department will sponsor and support for an individual candidate’s academic work for up to 3 years. This academic support will be tailored towards the individual applicant, and ranges from pilot research funding to support towards a degree program through Harvard Medical School’s Office for Graduate Education (including in medical education, quality / safety, and bioethics, among 8 other Master’s programs). The physician will be mentored by a team of physicians and staff scientists who are well-versed in medical education, research, and clinical work to succeed, both academically and clinically. The physician will be paired with an academic mentor in their area of interest.
Academics and compensation :
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a history of activity and commitment to the academic mission including teaching and leadership in resident and medical student education. An academic appointment will be made at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. All candidates must be graduates of an accredited ACGME Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency and Board Certified / Board Eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Medical licensure by the State of Massachusetts will be required before the commencement of employment. Candidates must meet the criteria / qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
