Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs sterilization and decontamination procedures to ensure quality instrumentation is provided for patient care. Maintains supplies and equipment for use in patient care. Monitors inventory to ensure that patient needs are met. Oversees that log books are kept up to date, generate instrument orders, and coordinates with Clinical Coordinators to ensure that instrument trays / count sheets are kept current. Works in coordination with OR personnel to ensure accuracy of instrument trays. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Able to communicate in English fluently (written and verbal)
  • Certified central service technician or certification acquired with in one year.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Minimum Experience

3 years’ experience, current basic and specialty surgical instrument handling skills / knowledge.

Lead Technician Sterile Processing Certification must be acquired within six months

Desired : 5 years or more experience.

If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.

Responsible for activities including, but not limited to decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation including various software applications, assembly, and delivery of surgical and interventional procedure case carts, paring and replenishment of materials, and working in collaboration with surgical partners to provide accurate and complete surgical instrumentation and needed supplies.

Education :

Required : High school diploma or GED. Completion of a formal Sterile Processing Technician course with field training or 1 year of experience as Sterile Processing Technician or Operating Technician.

Experience :

Preferred : 1 year as sterile processing technician with completion of formal sterile processing technician course.

Certifications :

Required : Must be certified with IAHCSMM or CBSPD within 1 year.

Preferred : Current certification through internationally recognized organizations such as IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management) or Certification Board for Central Sterile Processing.
