Overview Compensation : $79, - $, based on experience and credentials Remote Opportunity The Automation Engineer designs, develops, and implements automated solutions to streamline IT operations and improve efficiency. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the IT Team to identify areas for automation, developing automation scripts, and implementing automation solutions to reduce manual effort and increase productivity. Responsibilities Analyze business and technical requirements to design and develop automation solutions for IT operations Create and maintain infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible, Biceps, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, or equivalent Maintain knowledge of current industry trends with new technology to recommend and implement the latest, most effective solutions for the organization Conduct research to identify and recommend new technologies or tools for automation Collaborate with multiple teams to identify areas for automation and continuously improve the automation framework Ensure high-quality deliverables within organization guidelines, policies, and procedures Manage work processes and optimization methods Develop and maintain documentation for automation systems Identify risks, controls, and mitigations with associated automation Monitor automated systems to ensure optimal performance and availability Provide technical mentorship and cross-training to all levels of the IT team by sharing domain and technical expertise Serve as a technical consultant for technology purchases Recommend new technology to improve performance Collaborate with vendors to ensure successful installation and maintenance of projects Perform scheduled maintenance and patching during business hours Participate in Information Technology Division’s regular on-call rotation Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge and benefit the organization Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (A comparable combination of education, work experience, and training may be substituted for education requirements) 5+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Biceps, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, or equivalent Experience with core Azure services, Azure workloads, security, and governance preferred Experience with Azure CLI, Azure portal, and Azure Resource Manager templates Knowledge in VMware, Active Directory, Citrix Xen App, Infoblox (DNS), SAN replication, and Microsoft Exchange / O a plus Professional certifications such as MCSE, the latest or previous generation of Microsoft OS Windows (required), and Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate and Certified DevOps Engineer preferred Experience designing and developing automation solutions to streamline IT operations and improve efficiency Ability to identify areas for automation and develop automation scripts to automate manual processes Experience with implementing and maintaining automation solutions including monitoring and troubleshooting Strong knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltShack Experience performing audits on automation solutions to ensure they are functioning as intended and identify areas for improvement Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management Ability to resolve difficult and complex problems Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators Ability to influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures
