Responsibilities
The Health Equity Officer and Director of Health Education provides leadership in the design and implementation of strategies and programs to ensure health equity is prioritized and addressed within AHF managed care plan and outpatient clinic operations and external and community partnerships. The Health Equity Officer is an innovative and effective educator and communicator who leads the development of the organization’s education and communication strategies for AHF’s managed care plan enrollees, AHF Healthcare Center patients, and AHF’s managed care plan network providers.
The Health Equity Officer is national in scope and ensures plan and AHF policies promote health equity and reduce health disparities where possible. In addition, he or she collaborates with AHF divisions to deploy a system-wide educational program to improve health literacy, outcomes, and patient / enrollee satisfaction. This includes ensuring AHF’s health plans’ staff, subcontractors and network providers receive diversity, equity and include training.
The Health Equity Officer promotes individual and population health for people living with HIV / AIDS by leading and advising on health equity and educational program initiatives across the organization. This includes developing, implementing, and evaluating these initiatives; establishing, leading and maintaining intra and interdepartmental teams collaboration; maintaining documentation of all educational activities according to appropriate regulatory and accrediting bodies (for e.g. DHCS / NCQA / AAAHC / CMS).
