The Executive Primary Casualty Underwriter will report to the San Diego, CA office. Our client is open to flexible candidates located throughout California who can commute or travel to San Diego as needed.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Evaluate, select, and underwrite new and renewal business within the Contractors industry.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure a steady flow of business opportunities.
  • Analyze risk exposures and determine appropriate pricing and coverage terms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and standards.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Train, mentor, and lead Associate Underwriters, Underwriters, and Senior Underwriters on the team.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to brokers and clients.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of underwriting strategies and initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of underwriting decisions and transactions.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in casualty underwriting, with a focus on General Liability, Excess Liability, and Commercial Auto.
  • Strong knowledge of the Contractors industry and its unique risk exposures.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are preferred.
