Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION :
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse, the Psychiatric Social Health Technician (PSHT) performs therapeutic and other mental health related activity, maintains direct contact with people who have social and emotional problems and handicaps, and interests with clients in daily activities of living, and insures a properly maintained physical, social and clinical environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Responsible for the delivery of safe, quality patient care and services under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Bellevue Hospital's policies and procedures
- Member of a designated care team and collaborates with team members in achieving goals
- Receives assignment from the Registered Nurse
- Accepts aspects of care delivery for individual patient / family as delegated by the Registered Nurse
- Introduces self to patient / family and explains what will be done for / with each patient
- Identifies what the patient / family and explains what will be done for / with each patient
