The Leidos Innovations Center is seeking a Lead Research Scientist with deep expertise in cyber security, network threat analysis, and critical infrastructure vulnerability assessment. This position is available in San Diego, CA, Vista, CA, or Arlington, VA.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Engage with R&D clients in the Defense, National Security, and Intelligence sectors to identify and pursue new business opportunities in cyber and infrastructure security.
- Support the creation of innovative responses to evolving cyber and network threats.
- Strategically prioritize business and technical goals to foster growth in the cyber security domain.
- Oversee resource allocation to effectively position the company for success in R&D project capture and execution.
Basic Qualifications :
B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related technical field with 12+ years of relevant experience; M.S. with 10+ years; or Ph.D. with 8+ years (Ph.D. preferred).Experience in advancing cyber and network security research through successful technical solution delivery for national security challenges.Strong relationship-building skills with a proven background in the Defense, National Security, and Intelligence communities.A history of proposing, securing, and executing work with clients like the DoD and Intelligence Agencies (including DARPA and IARPA).Solid knowledge of network security protocols, penetration testing methodologies, vulnerability analysis, malware analysis, and reverse engineering.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly conveying complex technical concepts.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for a Top Secret security clearance.Demonstrated research experience, preferably with published technical work.Preferred Qualifications :
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a similar technical field.Experience across the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance.Familiarity with Agile development practices and tools.Experience in kernel-level programming and familiarity with assembly languages for various architectures (e.g., ARM, MIPS, x86).Understanding of reverse engineering and software exploitation techniques.Experience in vulnerability analysis of both source code and assembly language.Knowledge of exploitation techniques and mitigation strategies.Familiarity with tools like Ghidra, IDA Pro, or Binary Ninja.Awareness of industry threat models such as MITRE's ATT&CK or Lockheed Martin's Cyber Kill Chain.Understanding of common frameworks for reconnaissance, exploitation, and post-exploitation.Comprehensive knowledge of networking fundamentals across all OSI layers.Familiarity with modern cryptography theory, algorithms, and implementations.This role is critical to our mission and offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in cyber security.

Pay Range : $126,100.00 - $227,950.00. This range is a general guideline and not a guarantee. Factors influencing compensation include job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
