Job description

Position : Hedge Fund Audit Analyst

Location : Boston, MA- 3 Days Onsite / Week

Duration : 3 Months Contract

Hedge Fund Administration (HFA) is responsible for the Finance, Accounting, and Operations for Client's Hedge Funds. Client has a diverse Hedge Fund platform, with many different strategies that invest globally in a wide array of securities. HFA's Audit and Financial Reporting team manages the audit and financial reporting processes for Client sponsored hedge funds, ensuring the audits of the hedge funds are completed within set deadlines in accordance with U. S. GAAP. The HFA Consultant will report to the manager on HFA's Audit and Financial Reporting team. HFA Consultants will work to assist completing the audits within 90 days, which will require working closely with HFA analysts and managers and external service providers, including the Fund Administrators and Auditor.

The responsibilities of the consultant include :

Oversee and / or perform annual audit and financial reporting activities for a book of hedge funds, including detail review of balance sheet, income statement, statement of changes, consolidated SOI, financial highlights, and review of footnotes (including disclosure of ASC 820, ASC 815, ASU 2011-4, and other required disclosures)

Possible support for audit-related projects

Provide feedback for process improvement efforts identified in completing assignment

Provide feedback on technical subject matters from past work experience

Keys to the Position :

  • Financial Reporting, Financial Statement Preparation, and / or Auditing
  • Complex Funds ( Hedge Funds , difficult mutual funds, master feeders, side pockets, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, work on multiple tasks while under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft core programs (very strong Excel) Word, and Outlook

Min Requirements :

college undergraduate degree, preferably in accounting, finance, or business, and 5+ years of audit and / or financial reporting experience, preferably for hedge funds, is required. This role requires a high degree of organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Individuals must have precise attention to detail and the ability to learn and contribute quickly. Individuals must have the ability to work both independently and with the team, a client service mindset, and solve problems. HFA operates in a fast-paced environment where priorities change frequently and meeting deadlines is crucial. Ownership of assigned areas through completion is required.
