Hotstart designs, manufactures, and delivers thermal management solutions to customers in a variety of industrial equipment markets. We have an open position for an experienced mechanical engineer to join our New Product Development & Introduction team in Spokane, Washington. We are looking for a talented and motivated candidate to help expand our portfolio of thermal management products, technical capabilities, and market applications.
Requirements :
Primary Position Responsibilities :
- Project leadership for new product development and improvement efforts
- Provide expertise for a variety of system and component level design challenges
- Work with internal experts and customers on product requirement and performance goals
- Research new technologies for potential applicability and increased in-house expertise
- Evaluate existing company products for improvement opportunities
- Participate in industrial electrical control design activities (UL 508A panel shop)
- Support manufacturing and quality assurance teams to optimize delivered product
- Support customers with product application, testing, performance optimization, and troubleshooting activities
- Occasional travel to visit customer facilities, vendors, and field-testing sites (domestic and international)

Strong work ethic and ability to navigate challenges on path to implementing final solutionsPrevious experience leading projects to design and implement custom equipmentComponent level design expertise for machined, sheet metal, cast, welded, and molded partsAbility to lead hands-on testing efforts, troubleshooting, and prototype buildsStrong understanding and ability to apply heat transfer and thermodynamics principlesPrevious experience with industrial heating equipment, vapor compression-based products, and refrigerantsKnowledge of the design principles related to pumps and other dynamic mechanical assembliesFamiliarity with high volume manufacturing processes and automation techniquesAdvanced computer skills and previous experience with SolidWorks design softwareWillingness to share and teach previous experience and interests to elevate staff competencyBS / MS in Mechanical Engineering5 or more years of experience with the design of custom machinery or OEM equipmentReasonable accommodations provided for disabled individuals to foster success in essential functions.
