Description

Broomfield's Parks, Recreation, & Senior Services Department is now hiring one full time non-exempt Recreation Facility Coordinator. This position will be scheduled, along with other Facility Coordinators to cover hours at both recreation facilities, which are open 7 days per week.

Currently, this position will be scheduled during the following days / times :

Friday 11 : 30 am -11 : 00 pm

Saturday 11 : 00 am - 8 : 30 pm

Sunday 10 : 30 am - 6 : 30 pm

Monday 11 : 15 am -10 : 15 pm

Hiring Range : $28.81 / hr - $38.97 / hr

Essential Required Tasks / Examples of Duties

  • Supervises opening and closing of Recreation / Senior Center and other facilities as scheduled.
  • Supervises staff and volunteers on a given shift, assures adequate coverage for programs and activities.
  • Directs, trains, guides, evaluates and motivates assigned employees as needed.
  • Organizes, schedules and supervises activities, personnel, volunteers, and maintenance of facilities including weight rooms, Gymnasium, and cardio, studios and reservation rooms.
  • May assist in coordination of recreation staff in the delivery of programs and special events for adults, teens and children.
  • Supervises and / or instructs classes, workshops, and activities for persons engaged in recreation programs.
  • Enforces all rules and regulations of programs and facilities; ensures that the facility is safe for use.
  • Ensures all scheduled staff are present to perform assigned duties.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper set-up and take-down of necessary equipment needed for programs or functions.
  • Provides security for recreation centers and grounds.
  • Ensures that groups receive all services arranged for in their contract.Ensures that facility policies are followed by groups using the center.
  • Securely opens and / or closes the building for events scheduled before or after center operating hours.
  • Assists department in the implementation of all building emergency procedures. Trains all building staff in emergency procedures, First Aid and CPR. Assists in project management of building maintenance projects.
  • Assists supervisor with budgetary control in facility operations. Monitors budget performance and assists with preparation of annual budget. Assured maintenance of the building is completed by Facilities Department personnel. Recommends building improvements as needed.
  • Promotes interest and provides information regarding recreation programs to the public.
  • Prepares for publication a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, press releases, flyers and related communications regarding recreation programs. Promotes use of community recreation facilities and activities through oral and written public relations efforts such as social media and website content weekly news releases, monthly special events calendar, flyers, public speaking, and presentations. Promotes customer service through assisting participants to meet their needs. Responds to public inquiries about recreation programs made by telephone or in person.
  • Operates a personal computer and accompanying software programs. Operates a motor vehicle for travel between facilities. Identifies and recommends improvements in divisional and departmental operations to ensure functions are efficient and cost effective. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Uses all required safety equipment. Performs related duties as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information consistent with applicable federal, state and city / county rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Parks, Recreation, Sports Management or a closely related field.
  • Experience

  • 1 year experience required in parks, recreation, sports management or facility management.
  • 1 year supervision experience required.
  • Must possess valid AED, First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of hire.
  • Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :

    New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer / hire processes : in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry. If this position is required to drive a CCOB vehicle a DMV check will be required.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment.
  • Must possess a First Aid / CPR certification within 90 days of hire, and maintained for continued employment.
