Job Summary :
The Relief Counselor provides direct services to adults living in residential programs in a manner that promotes consumer stability, development of skills, empowerment, and recovery.
- Please note this position is an on call position that is limited to 30 hours per week. The main function of the position is to fill in for full time staff who call out, or provide coverage for understaffed programs. Hours are not guaranteed and the schedule is dependent on the shifts available. Relief staff have the flexibility to choose which shifts they accept with a minimum requirement of working one shift per month.

Weekdays and WeekendsMornings - 8 : 30am-4 : 30pmAfternoons - 3pm-11 : 00pmOvernights - 11pm-7 : 00amThis is a non-exempt position.
Essential Functions of the Position :
Implements program activities which will foster the consumers' growth, address treatment plan goals, and help them use developed skills.Follows shift log assignments and completes all shift duties.Teaches daily living skills such as safety rules, travel training, banking, cooking, shopping, budgeting, hygiene, and care of personal space and belongings.Provides supportive counseling to the consumers around daily, personal, and social issues.Maintains programmatic documentation in accordance with agency standards.Assists consumers with medication management and administers medications as needed.Provides as needed crisis prevention and intervention.Completes household cleaning as assigned.Performs other duties as requested by the Program Director.Job Requirements :
Understanding of the psychiatric, physical, social, emotional and educational needs of adults with mental illness.Ability to work effectively with adults with mental illness and / or developmental disabilities in a manner that supports their stability, empowerment, growth, and recovery.Sensitivity to the needs of adults with mental illness and / or developmental disabilities and their families.Ability to work collaboratively with other providers and neighbors.Good writing and communication skills.Previous experience working in human services or as a caretaker to family / friendsCPR / First Aid Certification (must obtain within a month of starting)
Prevent Training (must obtain within a month of starting)Must stay up to date on company online trainingMAP Certification (preferred)Must be available to attend required meetings and trainingBenefits :
