Position Summary

The University of New Mexico's Office for Community Health (OCH) is seeking applications for a Training Specialist to support its health extension program. This position will play a key role in developing and facilitating training programs for Community Health Workers (CHWs), student interns and other professionals, focusing on onboarding, certification, continuing education, and professional development. The Training Specialist will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design instructional materials, deliver training sessions, and assess program effectiveness to ensure alignment with best practices and community needs.The health extension program collaborates with various teams within OCH, including Health Extension Regional Officers (HEROs), data evaluation, Community Health Worker (CHW) led programs and training, to develop community-based health initiatives addressing Social Drivers of Health at both local and state levels.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multilingual preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage diverse learners, including CHWs, students, and subject matter experts.
  • Expertise in training facilitation, curriculum development, and instructional design.
  • Ability to coordinate, organize, and manage training initiatives effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive) and virtual facilitation via Zoom.
  • Experience utilizing Smartsheet, REDCap, and Qualtrics for training documentation and evaluation.
  • Adaptability in working with multiple stakeholders and responding to evolving training needs.
