Description Acara Solutions is seeking an Assembly Technician located in the Austin area to perform electrical and / or mechanical assembly of mass spec instruments. Please note, this role will start out with part time hours (20 hours per week, with flexibility on the schedule and then become full-time as sales grow.) The person selected for this role will assist with the development of a portable ion trap mass spectrometer. This is an opportunity to assist a company with tremendous growth potential on the ground floor. There is potential for the position to become permanent. Candidate must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to operate under a tight schedule. Onsite in Austin, TX (78758) Pay rate : $23-25 / hr, dependent on experience
- Principle Responsibilities will be : Electrical and mechanical assembly and rework of mass spectrometersMaintain lab in terms of cleanliness, MSDS documentation, and ESD control
Job Requirements Required Skills / Qualifications : 3 + years of mechanical assembly experiencePreferred Skills / Qualifications :
Versed in EMI / ESD mitigation practices and preventionPreference will be given to candidates that have worked with, designed, and / or built chemical detection instrumentsAbility to read an engineering drawings and electrical schematicsAssociates or other Technical degree highly preferredVacuum component assembly experience including vacuum fittings (compression fittings, swagelock), O-ring seals, clean environment assemblyCleaning techniques for vacuum applicationsExperience working in an advanced R&D environmentExperience with oscilloscopes, multi‐meters, power supplies, signal generators, and other electronic lab equipmentExperience working in an environment that interfaces with engineering department on a regular basis
