Work Location : Fully remote with occasional travel to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) headquarters at 5222 Martin Rd SW, Huntsville, AL 35898

Security Clearance : Minimum Interim Secret or Secret clearance required

Position Overview

BizFirst is supporting our client in search of a full-time, permanent Business Analyst to support the development, implementation and enhancement of a budget system for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business analysis, with experience gathering and documenting user requirements, creating user stories, and supporting full lifecycle system development. Experience working with MDA or in Department of Defense (DoD) financial systems as well as financial system implementation is highly preferred.

Our client is a specialized management consulting firm that engages experienced professionals and consultants to support the federal government with strategic project execution, financial process optimization, advanced IT solutions, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementation. Through innovative transformations, they develop and implement strategies to optimize operations for military departments and agencies across the U.S. Federal Government.

What you Will do

As a Business Analyst, you will work closely with stakeholders, developers, and system implementers to gather business process requirements for the budget system implementation. You will analyze current business processes, define system workflows, and ensure the new system meets financial compliance and operational needs. You will also track project milestones, support testing, and help with user training and system adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for the budget system by collaborating with MDA stakeholders and technical development teams.
  • Develop detailed user stories and business process workflows to support the system design and implementation.
  • Utilize Jira or similar tools to manage requirements, track system enhancements, and monitor progress.
  • Assist in defining functional specifications and system capabilities based on MDA financial and operational needs.
  • Work with developers, system architects, and testers to ensure accurate interpretation and execution of requirements.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT), functional validation, and system rollouts, ensuring alignment with financial system best practices.
  • Analyze existing financial and budgetary processes, identify areas for improvement, and recommend automation or optimization strategies.
  • Provide end-user support and training materials to ensure successful system adoption.
  • Ensure compliance with federal financial regulations and DoD budgetary guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst working with complex systems.
  • Minimum Associates Degree Highly desirable
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience breaking down business processes and writing standard operating procedures.
  • Familiarity with the DoD Programming, Planning, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) process.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to MDA headquarters at Huntsville, AL.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting the design requirements for implementation of financial or budget systems.
  • Prior experience working with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
  • Knowledge of federal financial reporting and compliance requirements.
