Job Description

Underwriter Job Summary - Small Business Construction (Must be in North Carolina or surrounding states to support the business)

Summary

Responsible for review and analysis of underwriting data to build and maintain a profitable book of primary liability business under direct supervision within the Small Business Construction department. Continues training and educational activities to build underwriting knowledge base. Manages agency relationships through continued customer service and marketing activities. Collaborates with colleagues to achieve departmental goals. Preferred locations are North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Works with manager / mentor to meet profitability, retention, and written premium goals determined by the department.
• Builds skills to make independent underwriting decisions and maintain proper file documentation.
• Works within assigned letter of authority.
• Develops knowledge of department products and services.
• Gain analytical and strategic decision making skills by working closely with mentor.
• Participates in training and initiatives to develop knowledge base.
• May participate in projects.
• Effectively displays ability to build and foster agency relationships through marketing activities.
• Manages assigned territory, agents and accounts.
• Travel required. Expected to be less than 20%
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $53,910 to a maximum of $89,850. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and / or performance-based variable pay programs.
