At Canyon View Vineyard Church(CVVC), we invite people into a new way to live as a deeply loved apprentice of Jesus Christ. The Student Pastor is responsible for guiding our middle and high school programs. This individual must demonstrate exceptional servant leadership, effective communication, a clear vision, strategic direction, and the ability to inspire others. You represent the culture and values of CVVC. You embrace the challenge of connecting with students at their level while creating engaging, enjoyable, and spiritually enriching environments. You have a track record of fostering trust and rapport with parents, volunteers, and church staff, leading to a collaborative, vibrant, and expanding Christ-centered student ministry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, serve, and shepherd a team of volunteers comprising adults and students.
Provide ongoing leadership development and care for your team
As a result of your leadership, this team is growing in scale, including scope of care and influence with students.Establish a long-range planning calendar and events led by a team of students and volunteersFollow protocol to onboard new volunteers, including background screening, training, and orientations.Successful implementation of all student programmingConsistent preparation of all aspects of planning and budgeting.
Ability to execute programming and environments that are culturally engaging, fun for the students, and spiritually engaging, resulting in students growing their faith and inviting their friendsLead weekly programming for MS &HS students.Create a handful of opportunities that engage and, in some incidents, mobilize students outside of the weekly programming (retreats, events, mission trips, fun activities)Cultivate a trusting rapport with staff, parents, volunteers, and studentsProvide effective and timely internal and external communication.
Provide spiritual care to students and parents of middle and high school students.Partner with our children's ministry and college ministry teams on the successful welcoming of incoming and outgoing studentsSpiritual FormationOversee students' apprenticeship by ensuring every student is known and loved by a mature Christ-following adult. You and your team think and act incarnationally-connecting with students outside of weekly programs and church services. (Sports, casual hangouts).
Think, lead, and build a spiritual and emotional formation path that shapes your programming and honors all stages of a student's spiritual and emotional development. You never leave kids behind in the name of maturity or depth.Any formation plan should align with the direction, values, and mission of CVVC.You have a vibrant relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. You are the type of Apprentice who students and volunteers want to be with and emulate.You are a natural gatherer building rapport with different personality types.Believe that the Holy Spirit indwells and empowers every follower of Jesus, and consistently experiences God's very power and presence at work inside, through, and around themselves as they participate in God's mission in the world.You are a whimsical communicator able to teach and equip formally and informally using culture, humor, and inspiration to skillfully introduce biblical truth and wisdom to middle school and high school studentsIf married, your spouse actively supports the calling and responsibilities that come with ministry and, in particular, the role of a student pastorYou are action-oriented and can take calculated risks to reach more students and further the kingdom. Bachelor's Degree preferred or graduate of an acceptable ministry program.WORK EXPERIENCE
2+ years of Student Ministry experience (Volunteer or Paid)3-5 years of Ministry Leadership preferredCandidates with a combination of experience and education who can demonstrate an ability to perform the required responsibilities will be considered.
