Coordinates all payroll in support of temporary employees. Responsibilities include processing payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Act as a consultant to department supervisors and temporary employees in payroll, personnel and benefits procedures and practices. Support the onboarding and offboarding of temporary employees, and development and improvement of related processes. Serve as primary payroll and timekeeping specialist.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of payroll and timekeeping practices and procedures including leave accrual, salary scales, etc.
Skill to investigate and resolve payroll and personnel issues / problems.
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in personnel practices and procedures including selection, release, affirmative action and EEO, etc.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and to use discretionary practices.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience advising employees regarding benefit program options.
Skill to do data entry and to modify existing records in computerized files.
Skill to perform basic math, including fractional and decimal calculations.
Skill to accurately operate computers, printers, typewriters, calculators, copiers, fax machine and other standard office machines.
Ability to create and maintain manual and computerized filing systems for rapid / easy retrieval by self and others.
Ability to interact with departmental, administrative and other staff and the public in a pleasant and professional manner with tact, diplomacy, poise and patience. Service oriented attitude.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills requiring independent and mature judgement to interact effectively with diverse groups at all levels in an environment with changing priorities, deadlines, and frequent interruptions.
Skill to analyze issues, problem solve and apply policies and procedures. Ability to think analytically and logically to devise solutions and procedures.
Ability to remember and follow standard procedures consistently.
