Licensed Veterinary Techncian Position Description :
We are seeking a skilled, experienced, and reliable Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) with a passion for dentistry to join our Veterinary Dental Specialty team location in the Las Vegas area. As an LVT, you will play a crucial role in assisting our veterinary dentists in providing exceptional dental care to our animal patients and our clients. Your expertise, dedication and attention to detail will contribute to the success of our practice and the overall well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :
1. Patient Care and Assistance :
- Assist veterinary dentists in providing comprehensive dental examinations and treatments to animal patients, including scaling, polishing and other dental treatments.
- Monitor patients under anesthesia during dental procedures, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement
- Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and anesthesia as directed by the veterinarians.
- Prepare patients for dental procedures, including proper positioning and pre-operative procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including dental charts, treatment plans, and medical histories.
- Provide post-operative care and follow-up instruction to pet owners.
2. Dental Imaging and Laboratory Work :
Perform dental radiographs and digital imaging, ensuring high-quality images for diagnosis and treatment planning.Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of dental imaging and equipment and techniques.Assist in the interpretation of dental radiographs and communicating any findings to the veterinary dentists.Prepare and process dental samples for laboratory analysis, such as oral cytology, bacterial cultures, and biopsy specimens.3. Equipment and Inventory Management :
Assist in maintaining dental equipment, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness.Collaborate with Inventory Manager to help maintain inventory control of dental supplies. This includes setting reorder points and determining order quantities to optimize order and replenishing processes.Collaborate with the Practice Manager to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of resources.4. Client Communication and Education :
Communicate with pet owners, providing updates on their pet's dental procedures and addressing any concerns or questions.Education pet owners on proper oral hygiene techniques, dental disease prevention, and post-treatment care.Foster a positive and empathetic client experience, building trust and rapport with pet owners.5. Collaborative Teamwork :
Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary assistants, and other team members to provide comprehensive patient care and maintain a smooth workflow.Assist in training and mentoring new veterinary technicians and assistants.Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and professional development opportunities.Be willing to learn new skills.Benefits :

Requirements
Must be a licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in the state of Nevada.Minimum of 3 years of experience as an LVT in veterinary practice, with experience in dentistry.Compassion for animals and a commitment to providing high-quality veterinary care.Strong passion for dental care in veterinary medicine.Must be willing to always maintain a professional appearance and attitude.Proficient in performing dental cleaning procedures and diagnostic dental radiographs.Knowledge of dental anatomy, oral pathology, and dental disease diagnosis.Familiarity with dental imaging equipment and software.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.Must thrive in a team environment.Reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team.Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities.If you meet the qualifications and are passionate about dental care in veterinary medicine, have at least 3 years of experience, and are reliable, we would love to hear from you.
