ASSISTANT FOODAND BEVERAGE DIRECTOR - FREEHAND LOS ANGELES The Assistant Food & Beverage Director reports directly to the Food & Beverage. As the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage, your core responsibilities encompass overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences across all dining outlets. You'll collaborate on menu development, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining high standards of service and cleanliness. Staff training, compliance with regulations, and fostering effective communication between departments are essential, alongside a commitment to continuous improvement and staying abreast of industry trends to drive innovation and revenue growth.

ABOUT FREEHAND LOS ANGELES

Housed in the historic Commercial Exchange building, our hotel indowntown Los Angeles is truly one-of-a-kind, featuring suites, premium hotelrooms and shared accommodations with interiors designed by Roman &Williams. The property is a new and exciting presence in the downtown LA scene,offering the classic Freehand accommodation experience for guests, while alsofully integrating into the local community with a calendar full of events andactivations at the Broken Shaker rooftop bar and pool, Rudolph’s Bar & Teabar, The Exchange Restaurant, and Cafe Integral. NUTS AND BOLTS OF THE JOB

Operational Management :

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the food and beverage department, ensuring smooth functioning of all outlets.Supervise staff to maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and efficiency.Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food orders.

Menu Development and Planning :

Collaborate with chefs to develop menus that align with the hotel's concept and clientele preferences.Regularly review menus to ensure variety, quality, and special promotions, events, and themed nights to attract guests and increase revenue.

Guest Experience Enhancement :

Foster a guest-centric culture among staff, emphasizing the importance of exceptional service.Address guest feedback and complaints promptly, striving for resolution and guest satisfaction.Monitor dining areas to ensure ambiance, cleanliness, and comfort meet or exceed guest expectations.

Financial Management :

Assist in budget preparation and cost control measures to maximize profitability.Monitor inventory levels and oversee procurement to minimize waste and optimize resource utilization.Analyze financial reports and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

Staff Training and Development :

Conduct regular training sessions to educate staff on service standards, menu items, and customer interaction.Provide coaching and guidance to improve staff performance and foster a positive work environment.Identify training needs and opportunities for career advancement to support employee growth and retention.

Compliance and Safety :

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and licensing requirements.Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards in food preparation and service areas.Address any issues promptly and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.

Collaboration and Communication :

Foster effective communication and collaboration among departments to ensure seamless coordination of food and beverage services with other hotel operations.Coordinate with marketing and sales teams to promote dining outlets and drive revenue through special promotions and packages.Communicate regularly with the Director of Food and Beverage to provide updates, seek guidance, and align strategies with overall hotel objectives.

Continuous Improvement :

Stay updated on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor offerings to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.Encourage a culture of continuous improvement among staff, soliciting feedback and implementing suggestions for enhancing service quality and efficiency.

YOUR ROCKSTAR EXPERIENCE

  • Four year college degree or equivalent experience required
  • A minimum of 4years of progressive responsibility in food and beverage industry required
  • A minimumof 2 years of personnelmanagement, preferably in a hospitality / service industryrequired
  • Experience in resolving customerissues / complaints as well as overallexcellent customer servicerequired
  • Proficient incomputer software including Microsoft Word andExcel
  • Solid timemanagement, organization and prioritizationskills
  • Proven ability toeffectively build and foster a team environment
  • Ability to makedecisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be of legalage to service alcoholic beverages
  • Ability toeffectively communicate verbally and non-verbally with others
  • Ability to workwith all personality types even in adverse situations
  • Ability toprioritize, anticipate situations, and take quick action

  • Ability to lift at 25 – 100 pounds
