Position Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled IT Financial Auditor to support the Air Force Financial Audit Improvement Readiness (FIAR) initiative. This role involves evaluating computer-based systems, auditing general and application controls in complex IT environments, and ensuring compliance with federal financial regulations. The ideal candidate will work closely with financial statement audit teams, system implementation professionals, and back-office operations experts to strengthen financial system controls and processes.
Key Responsibilities :
- Review and evaluate IT systems, focusing on general and application controls within complex accounting / financial environments.
- Analyze legacy systems for compliance with OSD FIAR Guidance and recommend necessary improvements.
- Assess software systems and document requirements following FIAR methodology.
- Conduct accounting risk assessments, identify system weaknesses, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Propose, test, and implement solutions to enhance financial IT controls and processes.
- Collaborate with financial statement auditors and cross-functional teams, including contracting, supply chain / asset management, and human resources.
- Participate in FISCAM-related activities, such as evaluating access controls, security configurations, segregation of duties, contingency planning, and business application controls.
- Support system change assurance efforts, including preparing assertion packages.
- Assist in managing financial processes within the system lifecycle management framework.
- Analyze and verify requirements to ensure completeness, consistency, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Effectively communicate technical expertise to program and project personnel in a clear, actionable manner.
- Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, and alternative solutions to address financial system deficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related technical field from an accredited institution, with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.Ability to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).Proficient knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and federal financial regulations.Familiarity with system-oriented auditing frameworks, such as DFAS Blue Book, FISCAM, and FISMA.Experience conducting IT audits, financial management assessments, or financial advisory services.Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex financial and IT systems.Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and data visualization tools for reporting and analysis.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.Preferred Qualifications :
CISA Certification or other relevant accounting / IT audit certifications.Continuing Professional Education (CPE) in compliance with the Yellow Book standards.Knowledge of system implementation audits and experience working with financial system controls.Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and ICD 503 security frameworks.Hands-on experience with financial data import, report generation, and process documentation.Strong understanding of organizational financial goals and objectives.This is an excellent opportunity for an IT financial auditor to play a key role in strengthening the Air Force's financial audit readiness.
