Horizons Youth Services at Milwaukee Job Corps Center provide innovative, quality educational and job training program to enable young people to succeed in today's competitive job market and keep pace with the ever-changing dynamics of our worldwide economy.
We are seeking an LPN for our Health and Wellness department at our residential trade school.
The LPN assists the Wellness Director with the professional delivery of health services, support, and education that will enhance student employability and help students maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Performs duties under the supervision of the Health and Wellness Director including :
- Ensures doctor’s orders are followed in the Wellness Center and the care of all patients as prescribed per direction of the supervisor.
- Maintains charts on all patients and archives medical and dental records of terminated students per direction of the supervisor.
- Assists with cursory examinations, sick call and wellness care.
- Maintains current knowledge in CPR and First Aid.
- Assists with housekeeping in all Wellness areas and complies with safety practices to ensure a clean and safe health facility at all times.
- Models appropriate employability skills for dress, language, and work habits.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and continually emphasizes the importance of courteous professionalism and employability when interacting with students.
- Participates in staff training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Evening and weekend duties (if scheduled) :
Visit each dorm to assess needs.Follow up on Chronic case management.Deliver and remind of appointments the next day.Oversee medication administration in the dorms.Refill all PRN and OTC medication boxes weekly.Collect OTC logs and file in student health record.Audit and maintain medication mailboxes to ensure students have the needed refills.File MAR / MORs in student health records.Evening and weekend nursing will be generally located in the dorms, recreation, and center grounds with office times for filing, ordering, cleaning, and follow up calls.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and diploma from an accredited Nursing Program. Active, unrestricted license to practice in state of Wisconsin. One year of related experience and valid state driver license required. Current BLS / CPR certification.
